ALMA Lecture Series: Somdeep Sen on 'Race, International Relations and the Politics of Israel-Palestine'

As part of this year’s ALMA lecture series, Prof. Somdeep Sen spoke at a public lecture on July 8, 2026, about the persisting racialized workings of the global order. Using (historical) examples from Tanzania and India, he showed how colonial violence and the dehumanization of racialized bodies shape the discourse on and our perception of Palestine, even today. 

The series was co-organised by the ABI in cooperation with Colloquium Politicum and the De/Coloniality Now Centre at the University of Freiburg. Som’s lecture was moderated by Benjamin Schuetze and is available online.
